Charter Primrose Hill celebrates 1st anniversary

Charter Day Care's supported accommodation house in Primrose Hill celebrated its first year under Charter management on 2nd April 2011.

House Manager Clare Sole has overseen the premises from the start, with an initial refurbishment and numerous smaller improvements in the house's facilities being made over the last twelve months. To date, approximately 40 clients have benefitted from periods of residence in the house, staying between four weeks and six months whilst they engage in treatment at Charter Day Care in Harley street, or take further steps in their early recovery, rejoining their workplace or taking up new educational opportunities.

"It's been an amazing twelve months," says Clare, "I just can't believe it's gone so quickly! The house is a wonderful resource for Charter Day Care clients, as well as for the residential-only clients here who don't choose to take up day care [at Harley Street]". While there is no waiting list at the time of writing, the house has been running close to capacity (10 residents) in recent months. "The atmosphere is great when the house is so full," said Clare, "there's so much peer support available and the housemates tend to bond really well in their recovery with a buzz about the house. The support is really valued by the clients – several have come back to the house for shorter periods many months after leaving Charter just to get some extra help from the staff and peer community if they're going through a difficult couple of weeks. It's brilliant to be able to offer that kind of ongoing help in the residential setting as well as at day care".
