Anthony McLellan
Anthony was educated at Downside. His career in the field of addiction began in 1978 at St Andrew’s Hospital, Northampton after which he trained as a Programme Director at Hazelden in Minnesota and in Intervention at The Johnson Institute Minneapolis and Albuquerque New Mexico. This led to a major pioneering involvement with the introduction of ‘Intervention Techniques’ into the UK.
In the early 80’s he headed the counselling and nursing team for the then Priory owned Galsworthy Alcohol Unit and in 1986 he became the first Programme Director of the Promis Recovery Centre in Kent. Before opening his private practice in 1990, Anthony was Director of the addiction programmes for the Charter Clinics in Chelsea and Hampstead as well as the Charter Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone.
Alongside this successful career in addiction treatment Anthony developed a series of educational lectures for schools. Under his guidance today, The McLellan Practice is the UK’s leading provider of Healthcare and Lifestyle presentations to Independent Schools.
Anthony has a thriving counselling practice in Harley Street, Central London. He is a regular participant in radio and television broadcasts on addiction and is often called upon by the legal profession to appear as an expert witness in these matters.
