Geraldine Wateridge
Geraldine has a Masters degree (with distinction) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Psychology and Counselling. She also has a PG Cert in Addiction Studies and is a member of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) and is in the process of becoming a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
Geraldine currently works as a Co-Manager and Counsellor for the Kairos Community Trust’s Aftercare, 2nd-stage treatment programme, co-facilitates the Aftercare programme at Charter Day Care and offers sessional counselling at the Capio Nightingale Hospital. She also sees private clients.
After deciding on a complete career change, Gerry started working in the addictions field for the Kairos Community Trust’s primary residential treatment centre in 2005, initially on a placement basis and latterly as an addictions therapist. In 2007, she was instrumental in helping set up the Kairos Aftercare 2nd-stage treatment programme, which was designed to specifically meet the needs of the addicts/alcoholics who had completed primary treatment and who needed further support. In 2008 she took over as the Co-Manager of this project.
Gerry’s previous career, which spanned 20 years, was as a Television Producer. She joined the commercials industry producing campaigns for companies such as British Airways, British Telecom, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever. In the late 90s she set up her own production company and concentrated on producing corporate films before deciding to seek new challenges in another field.
