At Charter we know that successful recovery is a function of the support networks available to clients throughout the treatment process and beyond. To this end, we provide free weekly aftercare evening groups to our clients in Harley Street.

Addiction affects more than the individual. The families of those suffering from addictions are particularly affected by the condition and a thorough treatment programme should include work with families and significant others where possible – supporting, exploring, understanding. We offer private counselling sessions and free family aftercare groups which concentrate on loved ones' experiences, helping to rebuild relationships which have often been strained to breaking point.

We are also able to offer one-to-one and relationship counselling to clients as well as our principal work in a group setting.

In the workplace, addiction (whether this is realised or not) is often at the heart of many difficult employment situations. Employers are often the last to find out about the extent of an addiction problem, as the functioning exterior at work is often maintained in the face of near total internal collapse. With a significant financial and personal stake in their employee's wellbeing, employers are often under-equipped in terms of knowledge and practice to deal with addiction. Charter runs seminars and talks to industry and in the City to help address this shortcoming and works closely with firms in the financial, legal, media and other industries to help struggling individuals to access help as early as possible, before the damage is done in the workplace.

Charter's approach to addiction treatment is based on prevention and education as well as recovery. Several of our counsellors are active in schools talks, and working with the McLellan Practice, Charter Education seeks to enlighten young people and their parents about addiction and destructive relationship patterns.
